Flag and Standard Generalities

Like all other armies of the Napoleonic period, the Neapolitan Army issued standards for its units for ceremonial and campaign use. These would be modelled on the French "eagle" standards, which had grown to widespread fame throughout Europe.

Additionally, each regiment would be issued a number of fanions, equivalent in purpose to modern guidons. They helped significantly in identifying smaller sub-units of men in the heat of battle, or during maneuvres.
